Wright Brothers

Carillon Historical Park has one of the premier collections relating to Dayton’s own Wright brothers, including the original 1905 Wright Flyer III. The only airplane designated a National Historic Landmark, the 1905 Flyer is the world’s first practical airplane. In the fall of 1905 Wilbur and Orville Wright piloted this airplane in record breaking flights at the Huffman Prairie Flying Field just outside of Dayton, Ohio.
