Transportation

A visit to Carillon Historical Park today provides visitors with the opportunity to not only see various modes of transportation used in Dayton throughout the last two centuries but also to learn how many of Dayton's own brightest and inventive minds changed the field of transportation forever. From the horse-drawn wagons of the pioneer era to the first Chevy S-10 truck off the assembly line at GM's Moraine Plant in 1988, Carillon Historical Park celebrates Dayton Ohio’s transportation heritage.

The gleam of polished brass and richly enameled metal are highlights found on the early 20th century automobiles and motorcycles inside the Dayton Sales auto dealership. You can even imagine your grandfather's "flivver" gassing up at the Park's 1924 Sun Oil Station.

Visitors are invited to go back even further in time to the era of our country's great canal systems with a stop at the Miami and Erie Canal bed and lock, as well as the Canal Superintendent's Office. All these exhibits, and more, illustrate the importance if the transportation heritage of southwest Ohio.
